Svetlana Matusa, known as Lana, stands out in the world of art for her exceptional talent as an academic painter and ceramic artist. Born in 1959 in Pancevo, Serbia, Lana embarked on a journey that would see her traverse the fields of chemical engineering at The Technology University before finding her true passion in the arts. Her academic pursuit culminated in 1989 at the University of Applied Arts and Design, specifically in the Department for Sculpture Ceramic, at the Art University in Belgrade, Serbia. Lana’s art is a unique fusion of her technical background and her deep, personal connection to the natural world. This blend is especially evident in her work post-1999, following her move to Iceland. The Icelandic landscape, with its stark contrasts of ice, lava, and moss, serves as a continuous source of inspiration for her.
